Supportive Housing Providers Association (SHPA) is searching for an Executive Director who shares our passion for housing advocacy to end homelessness and unnecessary institutionalization in Illinois. POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director (ED), is responsible for the overall management of operations and administration for SHPA, to include organizational finances, the legislative and advocacy activities, contract obligations, implementation of funded activities, and Board committees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Direct supervision for full-time and contract employees as well as management of contracted accounting agency

· Responsible for preparing the annual budget, managing grants, writing grants, fundraising and , managing the operational budget

· Ensure day to day business of SHPA is conducted in a timely, efficient, and ethical manner

· Oversee development of advocacy campaigns at the federal, state, and local levels. Work with the Board and Legislative Committee in advocacy efforts at all Federal and State levels in an ethical and comprehensive manner.

· Work with the Board and Governance Committee to recruit and maintain membership, maintain compliance for all legal and fiscal aspects of SHPA including the annual report to the Illinois Secretary of State office and to ensure the maintenance of operational Policy and Procedures and personnel files

· Ensure accurate, timely and ethical communication with the Board of Directors, membership, advocacy networks, federal and statewide stakeholders

· Collaborate with statewide Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) providers to ensure standards and best practices in supportive housing are identified and implemented to ensure quality housing and services for formerly homeless individuals and families

· Ensure PSH tenants are represented in SHPA activities and advocacy efforts.

· Provide direction in areas of programming, personnel, finances, internal and external communication, with a focus on the supportive housing state line items funding, program development and fair housing issues.

· Maintain close contact with the Board, Membership, Federal and State legislators.

· Strategically guide the SHPA process which is determined annually by the legislative and fiscal environment of the Federal, State and Local governments. Assess trends in supportive housing and influence advocacy through written and verbal communications.
